2010 FLORIDA FEDERATION OF MUSIC CLUBS JUNIOR CONVENTION
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH FLORIDA
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA
APRIL 30 - MAY 1, 2010

Dear Festival Counselors and Teachers,

You should receive your schedule by Wednesday, April 14th. Please review your schedule carefully. If there are any errors or discrepancies, contact Michael Edwards immediately at (954) 791-9273 or at MicEdwards@aol.com. If any of your students need to withdraw, please send their names and events to Michael Edwards.

With the exception of events for which individual times have been assigned, Juniors must sign up at the audition room for a playing position at least fifteen minutes prior to their audition. With the exception of rooms A and B, sign-up sheets will be available near the entrance to the audition room.

Each audition room, with the exception of room J, will be assigned a warm-up room in the Fine Arts Building. Sign-up sheets will be posted at the warm-up room. Limit one five minute slot per audition. (Events in rooms R and Z are limited to one ten minute slot.)

See directions to the UNF campus and the campus map for more information.

In the enclosed schedule, audition rooms are designated A, B, C, etc. At the Junior Convention there will be signs indicating in which rooms the A, B, C etc. auditions will be held.

PARKING: On Friday a nominal fee is required to park on campus. There is a parking garage and plenty of open parking next to the Fine Arts Building.

REGISTRATION WILL BE IN THE FINE ARTS BUILDING. All students must register prior to auditioning. Each student will receive a convention schedule and convention booklet. Teachers, please send your students with the following information: event, class, audition room assignment, and time of audition. Teachers: pick up certificates for your students when registering. Certificates will NOT be given to Juniors.

A concert featuring the 2009 Scholarship Recipients and presentation of special awards will be held at 7:30 P.M. in Lazzara Theatre on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Following the concert, audition winners will be announced. If you cannot be present, please appoint someone to pick-up your students’ trophies or ribbons. If awards have to be mailed, a shipping and handling fee of $10.00 will be required. Friday’s results will be posted on Saturday; all results will be posted on the web approximately two days after the convention has completed. Please do not call or e-mail Michael Edwards for this information.

Please remind your students that no audio or videotaping is allowed during the audition. Also, be aware that any Junior (or accompanist) who uses photocopied music will be disqualified (unless the copied score is accompanied by written permission from the publisher). Teachers, parents and entrants are prohibited from conferring with the judges. Doing so can result in disqualification.

Help, please. We need monitors and auditors to help facilitate the auditions as efficiently as is humanly possible. If you can assist us, please e-mail or Co-Chairs: Gavin Taylor at (904) 745-1435 or Lisa Smith at lcspiano@hotmail.com.

We hope all students have a very positive experience at our Jr. Convention. Students will be competing with the best from around the state. All will be rewarded listening to our talented and dedicated students.
