Rules:

1. Title of Essay: Music... "Poetry of the Heart"
   
2. Length of Essay: 500 words or less. Essay MUST be typed and will be judged on neatness, legibility and content.
   
3. Membership in the National Federation of Music Clubs is not required. The Essay Contest is open to all students 7-12 grade.
   
4. The Essay becomes the property of the sponsoring group for publication of the entire essay or parts of it and will not be returned.
   
5. The decision of the judges will be final and accepted by all.
   
6. Student can submit the same essay to both National and State. Please send two copies of your essay: one with the FFMC state application, and the second copy of the essay, with the National Music Week Essay Contest entry form. All entries will be sent to NFMC by the state chairman.
   
7. For State Contest, please include your Social Security Number as it is needed to purchase savings bonds in your name. You may include a wallet photo.
   
8. Send two (2) copies of your essay along with the state and national entry forms to:

Deadline: postmarked by December 15, 2009

Awards:

1. First Place Award for grades 9-12 is a $100.00 Savings Bond

2. First Place Award for grades 7-8 is a $50.00 Savings Bond.
