Through this contest, sponsored by the Florida Federation of Music Clubs, Inc., junior composers through the age of 18 have the opportunity to express their musical creativity by writing their own compositions. Any medium is accepted (keyboard, voice, other instruments or any combination thereof).

Juniors may enter one composition in their State Junior Composer's Contest. If you are a first or second place winner at the state level, your composition will be forwarded to the National Federation of Music Club's Junior Composers Contest.

Junior I ages 9 and under
Junior II ages 10-12
Junior III ages 13-15
Junior IV ages 16-18
Awards for Winners:
Junior I First Place $35.00 and a trophy
  Second Place $25.00 and a ribbon

Junior III First Place $45.00 and a trophy

Entrants may choose to enter the NFMC Festival Cup Program and earn points toward Gold Cups. As with events entered at your district festival, each rating generates a number of points which earn gradually larger gold cups (trophies) at increments of 15 points.

Entrants must be a member of an FFMC active Junior Club or must become an Individual Junior Special member ($13.00 dues payable to FFMC, Inc.) See Membership for additional information.

Juniors, when submitting your composition, please note the following:

Note that a valid Social Security # is now required of all entrants. This is an IRS requirement for any winning entry. For additional information about the contest, please see the NFMC Junior Composers Award page.

1) Completed application form (signed by teacher, student and student's parent.)
   
2) Manuscript (include name, age, class, and title on composition). Student must notate on manuscript paper or can be computer generated if done by student.
   
3) Tapes, or CD’s (required for any composition for more than one instrument, should be sent with Classes III and IV, optional for Classes I and II), if submitted, should be clearly marked with title, composer’s name, age and class.
   
4) Entry fees payable to FFMC, Inc.:

5) Self-addressed stamped envelope, no smaller than 9" x 12" with sufficient postage. Manuscript, tapes and rating sheets will be returned to students in these envelopes.
